  1. Provide legal services in French
  2. Serve the residents of Ottawa
  3. Assist low-income individuals

Housing Law

Advice and/or representation regarding:

  • Tenants’ rights and responsibilities;
  • Subsidized housing and rent-geared-to-income units;
  • Maintenance and repairs;
    Evictions.

  • Permanent residency on humanitarian and compassionate grounds;
  • Sponsorship of a family member on humanitarian and compassionate grounds;
  • Issues related to immigration status (temporary or permanent);

Elder Law

*Available only for Francophone seniors aged 60 and over.

Advice regarding:

  • Consent to health care (capacity and decision-making);
  • Hospital discharges;
    Long-term care homes;
  • Rights and responsibilities related to the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, or the Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Better to prevent than to cure!

La Clinique juridique francophone d’Ottawa offers free workshops in inform individuals about their rights and responsibilities, quip them to make informed decisions, and prevent certain legal issues.

Some examples of topics:

  • Common legal problems experienced by tenants;
  • Permanent residency, sponsorship on humanitarian and compassionate grounds, etc.;
  • Powers of attorney, wills, capacity, decision-making on behalf of others, and long-term care homes;
  • Prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace.
