SERVICES

Support for Vanier seniors

Our community workers are present in subsidized housing buildings for Vanier seniors.. Our teams can connect residents with information, resources and various supports.

Every week, our team of community workers visits the subsidized senior housing buildings to offer listening, assistance and support in navigating services. . During tax season, the mobile support team provides free tax clinics for these Vanier seniors.

Music in motion

In collaboration with researchers from the University of Ottawa, the Vanier CSC coordinates music and dance workshops as part of a research initiative on social prescriptions.

Social prescribing is a non-clinical approach that allows healthcare professionals and/or social workers to prescribe activities and/or experiences to improve or enhance a person’s physical and/or mental health.

As part of this project, professor Melina Dallaire from the University of Ottawa is offering music and dance classes for seniors living in the Ottawa Community Housing apartment buildings.

Research now shows the benefits of this approach on people’s mental health and sense of well-being.

Support for community groups

We support groups and organizations that contribute to making Vanier a healthy community where every resident has the opportunity to live a good life.
